It's not too early to start thinking about volunteering at Mead for the the 2010/2011 school year. The Mead PTSA has openings for the following volunteer chairperson positions. The PTSA can't continue to offer these fun activities and support our wonderful staff without your help! The following positions need someone to get these programs up and running when school starts in September.

Volunteer Opportunities for 2010/2011 School Year
The Margaret Mead PTSA is looking for chairpersons for the following committees for the 2010/2011 school year. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and the children love to see their Mom or Dad helping out at school. Won't you step up and take a leadership role for the next school year?
Albertsons/Campbells/Boxtops Chairperson
Coordinate and promote the Albertsons, Box tops, Campbells and Safeway E-scrip programs..Responsibilities include picking a date and publicizing the annual Box Top contest, collecting and submitting box tops. This person also collects Campbell's UPC labels and submits to Campbell's for sports equipment. Most of this work can be done at home.
Art Start Chairperson
Inventory art supplies and keep art supply cabinet up to date. Plan orientation for Art Start docents, and set up schedule for library exhibition space.
Back to School Event Chairperson
Barbecue, Mexican, Pasta Night – it's up to you! We are looking for someone to plan a Welcome Back to School Event. Responsibilities include coordinating the caterer and food, publicizing the event, coordinating ticket sales, decorating the gym and coordinating set-up, clean-up and volunteer teachers. We didn't have this event last Fall and would love to bring back this fun, family event with your leadership!
Gardening Chairperson
Are you someone who loves plants? We are looking for someone to keep the Mead gardens weeded and pruned. Add new plants as needed.
Hospitality Chairperson
Coordinate baked goods for various PTSA events such as the Holiday Gift Shop.
Pancake Breakfast Chairperson
Looking for a Dad to coordinate other Dads to set-up, clean-up and flip pancakes on a Saturday in March.
Reflections Chairperson
Visit classrooms, publicize this national PTA program, coordinate judging of student artwork, and deliver artwork to District headquarters.
Safe Arrival Chairperson
This person is responsible for scheduling volunteers to make phone calls to follow-up for any student who is unaccounted for. Confirm safety of student and document reason for absence.
Staff Appreciation Chairperson
Pick menu, e-mail volunteers to bring food, setup and clean-up. Meals are provided to teachers and staff once a month and goodies are provided during Staff Appreciation Week. This position could easily be shared with a friend.
Website Manager
Update PTSA website with information given to you by the Board. Maintain board contact information, calendar and any announcements. This one can be done in your PJ's at your convenience!
Yearbook Chairperson
Coordinate contract with yearbook company, create layout of pages, coordinate sales, delivery and distribution of yearbooks. Take action shots at various school events or encourage others to do the same.
